Oval Emerald Diamond Halo Pendant Set in 18K Gold

Emerald is a stone that reads differently from across the room than it does up close. From a distance it is simply green, vivid and immediate. Up close, it is something more complex. It holds light rather than reflecting it, which gives it a depth that no other coloured stone quite matches. When we built this set around oval emeralds framed by diamond halos in 18K gold, we were working with that depth rather than trying to compete with it.

The oval shape is not incidental. Oval emeralds have a softness to their outline that round and cushion cuts do not carry, and that softness flatters the diamond halo that surrounds each stone. The earrings at 0.88 carats of emerald and 0.39 carats of diamond have enough presence to hold the eye without pulling. The pendant at 0.42 carats of emerald sits at a scale that reads clearly from neckline distance. The ring, also at 0.42 carats of emerald, completes the set with a silhouette that sits quietly and wears comfortably across a long day.

All three pieces are worked in 18K gold, which was the correct choice for an emerald set. The warmth of yellow gold brings out the richness in green in a way that white gold approaches differently. We kept the metal consistent across the set so that the stones, not the case, remain the conversation. The diamond halos are set close and even, creating a frame that amplifies the emerald without distracting from it.
